In 1967, The DESAI GROUP had an impetus to explore the Textile market and experience the world of increasing opportunities. Emerging as a supplier of Sizing Material & chemicals and then had transform over the years into a truly manufacturer of Quality Fabrics. We started 700 plain looms manufacturing Dhoties for the Textile Supremo Mafatlal Group for the period of over 4 years from 1979 to 1983. The ability was very well appreciated by Seth Shri Arvind Sheth Mafatlal who visited us almost thrice during this tenure.
From 1984 to 1989, there was transformation stage of weaving industry and the mill sector had already upgraded to Automatic Looms like Ruti B & Ruti C. Then same change over started with installation of automatic looms in decentralized sector. We were group appointed as a sole agent for Mafatlal Engineering Ltd (Ruti B Looms) & LMS Marketing Pvt Ltd (Shah Trumpet Dobby). Late Shri Kiranbhai Desai (the founder of Textile Division of our family) took up the challenge to install first automatic loom in the decentralized sector of the country and further gave record performance for sales of machines.
With automatic machines coming into market, there was felt scarcity of quality yarn in domestic Ichalkaranji market. The market needed mill standard yarn and looking up the opportunity we took over agencies of yarn for New Shorrock Mills, Surat Cotton Mills, Mihir Textiles & Rajgopal Texile Mills again giving huge sales. We were further also honoured over by sales agency of Standard Alkali for supply of chemicals & acids to the process houses in and around Ichalkaranji.
The Era of 90s, the decentralized sector was again focused by the mill sector. From 1990 to 1998 the company concentrated in supply to mill sector. In mid 90s the company started with supply of 25000 mts per month to The Bombay Dyeing & Mfg. Co. Ltd. to a peak of 4 lac meters per month. The major buyers then were The Bombay Dyeing & Mfg. Co. Ltd., The Mafatlal Fine Spg. & Wvg. Mills Ltd., Binny Ltd., The Hindoostan Spg. & Wvg. Mills, Bata Ltd., Lakhani Ltd., Ashima Dyecot, Morarjee Goculdas Spg. & Wvg. Mills Ltd and many export houses in India.
Since 1999, we entered two new segments of textiles, initially with the defence supplies and then the domestic market of the country. With the production capacity of 4 lac meters per month we are the first ISO 9001:2000 company in the decentralized sector of the country. This was highly appreciated by the Textile Minister Mr. Prakash Awade and Textile Commissioner Mr. Subodh Kumar who purposely visited our factory in 2003. We have been awarded as the BEST ORGANIZATION for the year 2003-04 by the Textile Association (India).
From early of 2005, we further diversified into imports of Second Hand Textile Machines. It took several visits to Europe and to develop the contacts. Further we also took over Agency of one of the leading Chinese rapier machine manufacturer Liaochang Changrun Textile Machinary Co. & also installed many machines in India.
Presently the Company is focussed in Manufacturing types of Grey Fabrics for the purpose of Clothing & Garmenting. Our main strength is designing and creativity. We develop not less than 100 new designs every month in bottom weights as well as shirting fabric. We are very much well experienced & strong for creating new concepts of Lycra / stretch fabric. With more than 3000 items of lycra bottom weight products produced so far we are known in market for creations with high quality products. We are equipped with in-house designing teams with Desk loom machines and also have appointed freelancer designers in Mumbai to enhance development of new product. We travel overseas almost twice a year to understand international trends & fashion and thus benefiting our customers with latest trends and designs. The production capacity presently is 5 lakh meter per month woven mainly on Picanol Rapier Weaving Machines.
Apart from the above core activity we are also dealing in Yarn Trading Business Promoting Sales for various Spinning Units around the country.
Almost a decade back we started manufacturing Eco Friendly & 100% Bio Degradable Cotton Bags mainly for Industrial Packaging purpose. In 2018, under Swachh Bharat Movement & Government much focussing the environment, we also started working aggressively on this product and have more focus to develop this market.
